ABOUT

My journey....

.......began over 20 years ago with my first Tai Chi Chuan lesson. It started with two left feet and two right hands, but slowly my passion for this ancient art has grown.

Tai Chi is an encyclopaedia for your mind, body and spirit. Within its graceful movements and rhythmic flow are the lessons of balance that can form a guide to our own journeys through life.

Legend has it......

...that the Taoist monk Zhang Sanfeng created Taijiquan in the 12th Century. When he observed a bird attacking a snake. He was inspired by the snake's defensive tactics, it remained still and alert in the face of the bird's onslaught until it made a lunge and fatally bit its attacker. Legend has it that this incident inspired him to create a set of 72 Taijiquan movements.

Mind, body, and spirit.......

......at the heart of Tai Chi is the search for balance and harmony within our selves and the world around us. Through a process of self-refinement, focus of the mind, and mindful relaxation, we learn to approach life with a sense of stillness. Tai Chi chuan has now become synonymous with mental and physical health.

As a student of Tai Chi..........

......my journey has taken me around the world in search of others who share my passion and joy for this beautiful art form. After 20 years of training and study, I still consider myself a student with much to learn.

My path has now led me to Master Tary Yip, co-founder and chief instructor of Deyin Taijiquan Institute (GB). His incredible patience amazes me to this very day and I can recommend both him and the Deyin Taijiquan Institute to anybody wishing to develop their Tai Chi, including instructor training and validation.
