Sun Lutang, a renowned master of internal martial arts, emphasized the interconnectedness of stillness and movement, and the importance of returning to emptiness in practice. He believed that the principles of Xingyi, Bagua, and Taijiquan, though different in form, ultimately converge at the "Way of returning to emptiness". Sun Lutang's teachings stressed the cultivation of internal power through practices that harmonize body, mind, and spirit, leading to a state of balance and well-being.
Sun Lutang emphasised the importance of returning to a state of emptiness or "void" in practice, which he associated with a deep understanding of internal power and a harmonious state of being. He believed that through diligent practice, one could achieve this state in both daily life and even during sleep.
